Much Practice: To Switch Involuntary Breathing Control
Hyperventilation (over exhalation) causes a loss of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the lungs and in the blood. This deficit, result of overly exhaled CO2, disturbs your body's acid alkaline balance, which is an important change you need to understand. This is known as your body ph balance. Acid to alkaline. Ideal is only slightly alkaline. Most Americans seem to be overly acidic. Asthmatics apparently pushed into extreme alkaline balance by the body effect of overbreathing. Just one of the things that happens as a result of body over alkalinization is that smooth muscles constrict which then leads to poor oxygen absorption by your body's cells. This is particularly significant for diabetics who already have a circulation disrupted, cells starving and dying (neuropathy example) problem. Those with asthma or other repertory ailments experience this with the development of wheezing, developing a sense of breathlessness, constant coughing, experience a tightness in the chest, often have frequent yawning and gasping, excessive sneezing with a runny nose, congested nose, and sleep disrupted by snoring and developing sleep apnea leading to a constant tiredness during the day, etc. Over breathing often leads to a feeling of lightheadedness, unable to concentrate, excessive unexplained sweating, often dizziness and vertigo, a tingling of hands and feet that occurs in diabetics, which may be from this cause, a feeling of faintness occurs, even trembling and unexplained headaches. It can affect your mental condition and cognitive ability and your mental state effect may additionally include some degrees of anxiety, tension, depression, overall apprehension and, of course, self perpetuating "stress". This also puts angina and potential heart attack victims with restricted blood supply to the heart muscles in further danger. Some of the effects that may be noticed typically are a feeling of racing heartbeat, and/or a pain in the chest region. It is also this problem, or restriction, which causes your body to increase your blood pressure to compensate, increasing danger of stroke, etc. Most of automatic hyperventilation you may have developed apparently comes from modern lifestyle and the popularized false belief that breathing more and deep breathing leads to increased body's oxygenation, and supposedly leading to better health. You tried to fix your deficiencies by the popularized idea of change your pattern to breathing deep and extra, but instead not realizing it, you have increased the problem. Buteyko - found that to reverse most chronic illnesses, (not just asthma) a patient (those in ill health) must recondition (retrain) his or her involuntary breathing to more closely operate automatically at the correct CO2 healthy level. His original interest was started when as a medical student, he realized most hospital patients were overbreathing and he learned to predict accurately when they would die by the extent of their overbreathing. Thus, we suggest you learn where your breathing health is using the Buteyko developed CP, "controlled pause" test method. Takes only a moment or two and is free. You can use it to learn many times daily as to how your self breathing retraining project is progressing in fixing the problem by taking what is a simple CP test. (see CP article) Understand the morning awakening CP (controlled pause) test most accurate reading of your involuntary systems automatic maintained level. There are now 30 Certified Buteyko Practitioners in the U.S., up from just 8 a few months ago. Those that have taken the official Buteyko courses (training, around $400 cost) say they recommend it and think it would be much more difficult to learn without the assistance. There are many testimonials of people learning it to complete cure on their own however. Most practitioners offer a 100% refund if you believe you have not been helped considerably. Report is few ever ask for refund and are more then satisfied with the results. The $400 fee seems high but is nothing compared to emergency room fees for one or two visits, which may go on for a lifetime without this training. Frequently Asked Buteyko method Questions.....
