What Does Asthma Breathing Retraining Consist Of?

We Have Not Condensed It Down For You, We Just Report What We Uncover As We Go We suggest you read extensively and watch the videos here and obtain books, videos etc and or take the Buteyko course if available and you can afford it. One Reporter says this is the basic method of Buteyko:
that it involves a full exhale, and then breathing out a little more until you feel your abdomen being drawn back against your spine. Try to stay in this exhaled state for as long as you comfortably can, and then inhale gently without gasping or gulping. After that, breathe normally for a while. When ready, repeat the whole process and attempt to increase the length of time wherein you hold in an exhaled state as comfortably as you can.
Another says it is breath two or three normal breaths. Breath out
and hold for a count of five. Breath slow and shallow for a bit and
then hold and count to five...
Have not verified any of this...... This is basically, it sounds to me like you are getting your auto system used to the idea of a lot higher carbon dioxide level. Trying to get it to reset itself closer to 6.5% The closer you get the closer you are to being free of asthma. So what ever works to get it to reset itself to higher carbon dioxide levels, helps. When you do this while exercising or moving in any activity, one says you restrict one nostril etc so your system gets used to be a little short of air. Refrain from breathing through the mouth, The whole thing seems to be based on getting your automatic system to accept higher Co2 levels, slightly short of air, as an accepted day to day breathing. Stop all mouth breathing, cut gasping, yawning, long sentence talking and/or blowing the nose, etc anything that expels large amounts of carbon dioxide. You apparently have developed a fear of being short of breath so you have developed a habit of over breathing. This can be from talking extended periods which lowers carbon dioxide levels with a lot of breathing to exert emphasis etc. and you have reset your automatic start and stop points for breathing too low. Buteyko developed a method that works and the practitioners have fine tuned this to what to do and what not to do, and show this in classes on videos etc. The book we recommend, "Asthma Free Naturally," (because we have read it) is also written by a practitioner with long experience and the important thing is to know the precautions basically determined from your CP. Therefore learning and doing your CP test regularly, particularly every morning is an important part of you retraining your auto breathing system. Nobody can do this for you though we are looking into hypnosis. Bio Feedback with a machine, is starting to become available and we will have more on it.
Here is an article,
Breathing Technique to Fix Asthma
You will be hearing more about this option and we reported on the machine in our article 16, see right column home page for articles. Also we will be reporting on guided imagery and self hypnosis as a way of retraining your involuntary breathing system. Anything you can do to retrain your breathing to tolerate and operate with a higher carbon dioxide level should improve your asthma. Regards You may not be ready for some of these exercises etc until you get your CP level up.
